A Snapshot of Your Day
Electrification-Automation-Digitalization (EAD) is in search of an Embedded Service Engineer with direct experience in servicing large variable speed drive solutions for compressor applications for the oil and gas industry.
The engineer who takes this position will be based at a Siemens Energy customer site (Woodfiber site in BC) and act as the Siemens Energy representative to the customer for all power and drive train activities including troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, and/or commissioning solutions using Siemens Energy drive systems and industry technology portfolio to satisfy industrial customer requirements or solve problems. The engineer will coordinate with local engineering teams to recommend and deliver high quality technical solutions.
A successful engineer will have a strong educational and industrial background with a major focus in power electronic systems and extensive hands-on experience. A passion for the field and drive to learn and tackle new challenges is an absolute must. The experienced level engineer must be able to develop customer relationships, be accurate and detailed while working in a fast paced environment with multiple people, calls and projects demanding attention and time. Candidate will be stationed at the jobsite full time.

How You’ll Make An Impact
- Commission compressor VFD (variable frequency drive) System and execute preventative maintenance on equipment
- Diagnose and develop plans to resolve issues or enhance performance of customized drivetrain solutions
- Learn the latest industrial solutions and new product developments within Siemens Energy
- Plan workload, coordinate resources, and execute maintenance outages on power and drivetrain, ensuring timely completion
- Interface directly with customers to answer questions and resolve issues, and collaborate with design engineers to test, commission, troubleshoot, and update integrated system drawings
- Work standard 40 hours per week at customer facility, with overtime as required, and travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%)
- BS in Engineering or relevant experience. Preferably in electrical engineering, but other fields may be considered.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in LNG (liquid natural gas) or a related industry is required. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
- Hands on VFD (variable frequency drive) experience is required with a background in Drive / Motor System Solution Design and Service or Commissioning.
- Familiarity with North American and international codes and standards, and safety and lock-out / tag-out procedures and able to understand project-specific documentation (system and functional descriptions, test and commissioning procedures, etc.).
- Preferably with experience in power distribution solutions, PLC/control systems, compressor systems, and liquefaction.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in Canada without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
