Temporary Full Time Dietary Aide (until May 2026)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the Dietary Aide provides support to the set-up, preparation, serving and clean up associated with all meal services in the Residence/Home.

Qualifications:

  • Food Handler Training Certificate (CK Public Health Unit) or equivalent.
  • Preference will be given to individuals who have previous experience in the food service industry and working with seniors
  • Culinary skills
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift

Job Duties:

  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Assist in the set up and preparation for meals
  • Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required;
  • Assist with cleaning of dishware, cutlery at the conclusion of each seating as required;
  • Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen and dining area as required;
  • Follow and comply with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures;
  • Comply with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures;
  • Be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote it;
  • Attend in-service training as required in order to better serve the needs of the residents;
  • Attend staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in Residence that have taken place;

Requirements:

  • Must be fluent in English (verbal and written)
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow instruction including but not limited to job descriptions & procedures, SDS information, chemical dilution instructions and use
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must conduct themselves in a courteous manner at all times and have excellent customer service skills
  • Must be organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills evidenced by ability to work well with fellow staff in all departments, ability to communicate and identify problems with proposed solutions to managers and co-workers.

The nature of this position will require the successful candidate to provide a Vulnerable Sector Police Background Check before the commencement of employment.
