About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy delivering client and industry driven solutions through our 5 core specialist Practices; Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Change & Transformation, and Risk, Regulation & Compliance.

FDM is seeking a Financial Analyst located in Toronto, ON to support a project in the finance sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 months but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week.

The team is responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial and regulatory reporting for Canadian registered brokers/dealers. The team prepares external financial reports for public filings and regulators

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and analyzing risk adjusted capital, including margin and other regulatory capital deduction schedules in accordance with local regulatory rules on a weekly and monthly basis;
  • Supporting month end close processes involving journal entries booking, reconciliations and variance analysis;
  • Addressing ad hoc requests from other functional areas (legal, compliance, tax, operations, etc);
  • Assisting with local regulatory, statutory and tax audits; and
  • Maintaining appropriate procedures and documentation.

About You

Required skills:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in public accountings and/or broker dealer firms
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance
  • Strong data-oriented, problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated personality with high standards for quality of work and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt, and work well under pressure in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to work with virtual teams across varying regions towards the achievement of common goals
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to learn and understand new processes quickly with minimum supervision
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting rules

Advantage to have:

  • Canadian CPA designation or its equivalents from other countries is preferred
  • Experience with broker/dealer reporting to Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) and/or recognized national exchanges and associations is an asset
