The company sells their products to many large companies that will be familiar to most candidates. What- the Role:
SWIM is recruiting for a new Purchaser (or Senior Purchaser, depending on experience level) who will conduct the sourcing and procurement of packaging, raw materials, equipment, and supplies for a variety of operational and manufacturing needs at the company. The Purchaser will make sure purchasing of goods and supplies is taking place efficiently and cost-effectively. The Purchaser will directly conduct price negotiation and contract terms.
The Purchaser will directly report into the Supply Manager and will support the broader supply chain and manufacturing teams with replenishing inventory, improving purchasing value and purchasing power, risk management, and foreseeing and avoiding procurement delays and issues, all while complying with the company’s safety standards and policies.

What- the Responsibilities:
- Responsible for strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, order execution and vendor performance management.
- Hands-on execution of the end-to-end purchasing cycle, from issuing purchase orders (POs) to tracking deliveries, ensuring timely receipt of materials, packaging, and supplies needed for operations.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, including contracts, vendor communication, and order confirmations, while supporting the ongoing improvement of administrative workflows.
- Use ERP and MRP systems and other tools to monitor inventory levels, generate purchase orders, and align supply with production forecasts and business needs.
- Support vendor relationship management by updating supplier records, monitoring delivery performance, tracking cost changes, and assisting with negotiations.
- Collaborate across teams to anticipate material needs, prevent stockouts, and provide regular updates on inventory status and lead times.
- Assist in preparing purchasing reports and performance dashboards, helping identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for process improvement.
- Act as the initial point of contact for product quality concerns, managing the lifecycle of supplier complaints and ensuring proper follow-up and resolution.
- Stay informed on industry developments and procurement trends to support strategic sourcing, cost management, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Who- the Candidate:
We’re seeking a purchasing professional who is self-motivated, resourceful, detail-oriented, and organized. Qualified candidates will have at least 4 years and ideally 6+ years of relevant work experience and must have worked in a sourcing/procurement/purchasing role in the manufacturing sector.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are important in this role, as is a collaborative approach to work and the ability to partner with colleagues in a variety of departments such supply chain, manufacturing, finance, and operations.
- A diploma or degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or a similar discipline is preferred.
- Professional accreditation in procurement or purchasing, such as SCMP or CPM, is considered an advantage (already certified or actively pursuing).
- Experience in a similar senior purchasing role in a fast-paced production or manufacturing setting.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Skilled in managing supplier relationships, processing orders, and overseeing stock levels.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and best practices in industries with strict safety or quality standards is highly valued.
- Solid understanding of procurement-related budgeting, cost analysis, and expenditure tracking.
- Strong administrative background, including handling purchasing records, conducting data entry, and generating routine reports.
- Systems-
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications and enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms
- Prior experience with manufacturing systems (MRP) is advantageous.
- Ability and willingness to continuously optimize, automate, and customize system use.
How Much:
Base salary commensurate with level of education and relevant supply chain work experience, in the range of $65,000 to $80,000. Please discuss your total compensation expectations in further detail with SWIM.
Where:
The Senior Purchaser / Purchaser will be based out of the Company’s beautiful headquarters in Burnaby. There will be occasional travel within the lower mainland for this role.
