Summary Of Duties

This position will focus on partnering with the Sunnybrook Foundation and Hospital to support the alignment and advancement of fundraising priorities in accordance with Sunnybrook’s strategic plan. The role will help define and implement key processes for identifying, approving, and supporting fundraising priorities, and will work closely with senior leaders across both organizations to ensure integration of business strategies and funding opportunities, while also identifying synergies across programs that advance hospital-wide initiatives and key objectives.

We are looking for an experienced health system professional with a strong understanding of hospital operations, funding, philanthropic impact, and the broader health system landscape. The ideal candidate will have experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects, strong communication and relationship management skills, and the ability to navigate and align diverse perspectives toward shared strategic goals.

This role will report to the Director of Strategy & Corporate Projects at Sunnybrook and will work in close partnership with the Executive Director, Philanthropy of the Sunnybrook Foundation. It will engage individuals across both organizations, including the Senior Leadership Team, Operational Directors, Program Chiefs, and hospital departments, including Finance, as well as Foundation colleagues in Philanthropy, Donor Communications and Stewardship.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Act as a key advisor to identify and shape fundraising initiatives across ths hospital that align with the organization’s strategy, in alignment with the established fundraising processes to ensure donor readiness.
    • Collaborate with Foundation and hospital teams to develop business plans that outline key deliverables, timelines, and potential funding sources.
    • Support both proactive and reactive fundraising initiatives by assessing organizational readiness, operational capacity, impact and ensuring alignment with hospital priorities.
    • Promote hospital-wide understanding of fundraising processes and principles.
    • Lead multiple work streams across clinical and operational areas, including content development, to maintain project momentum.
    • Identify, assess, and escalate project risks appropriately to ensure success.
    • Establish the process to monitor progress and report on key deliverables and timelines as needed on a project-basis, as required by leadership.
    • Analyze and synthesize data, including financial and clinical data, from multiple sources to support executive-level decision-making.
    • Integrate elements of clinical care, research and education with financial information to support prioritization and advancement of fundraising initiatives, including articulation of impact.
    • Facilitate large group meetings and planning processes to ensure alignment and achievement of objectives.
    • Build and maintain effective working relationships with partners across all levels of the organization and with Foundation partners.
Qualifications/Skills

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Minimum 5 years hospital experience or equivalent
  • Preference for candidates with experience and/or exposure to philanthropy and charitable giving
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel and PowerPoint
  • High level of initiative and self-direction and ability to manage multiple, complex initiatives within tight timeframes
  • Comfort in situations where the goal or process to achieve those goals is unclear
  • Have a strong understanding of the health care environment
