Job Description:
As a key member of the Production team, and under the leadership of the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for ensuring the product(s) is in compliance with customer standards and production goals and targets are met. The Production Manager is responsible for assigning and evaluating work, training and reviewing staff performance. The Production manager has the authority to stop production and/or shipments when non-conformances are discovered. The production Manager has the responsibility and authority of Production as the process owner.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Active participation in the strategic planning and management of Mitsui High-tec (Canada), Inc.
- Maintenance of production KPIs
- Assessing project and resource requirements
- Determining quality control standards are understood and met by the Production team.
- Manage the daily operations and supervise the work of the Production personnel through mentorship of Production Assistant Managers, Production Supervisors, Production Leaders and Production Team Members
- Ensure compliance of production schedules
- Re-negotiate timescales or schedules, as necessary, with various functional leaders
- Manage and prioritize all production processes and implement production plans
- Analyze staffing requirements and ensure efficient compliance to production schedules and budget for production processes; assist in hiring production employees, integrating new hires, coordinating production staff
- Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement
- Determine and implement improvements to the production process
- Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures
- Create and implement standard operating procedures for production operations and ensure adherence
- Evaluate and maintain all department budgets and analyze variances
- Identify problem areas, recommend, coordinate, and implement solutions
- Collaborate with other departments to maintain the ISO quality systems
- Ensure team members are treated with respect and encourage an atmosphere of openness and fairness at all times
- Communicate company programs and practices in a timely manner
- Enhances company performance by motivating all team members and championing company activities such as reward and recognition programs to build teamwork and cohesiveness
- Takes direction comfortably, able to multi-task, managing time effectively to obtain optimum results
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years’ experience as a Production Manager or Production Assistant Manager in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Understanding and experience with ISO based quality systems (ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949 certification systems)
- Strong team building and team leadership with experience in a management position
- Knowledge of process improvement techniques
- Strong morals and ethics, along with commitment to staff privacy
- Effective problem solving, decision making and collaboration skills with the ability to impact and influence
- Strong sense of urgency; works well under pressure and reacts to stressful situations with professionalism
- Strong presentation, written and verbal skills
- Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, attention to detail and time management skills
- Excellent human relation skills and ability to work with various levels within an organization
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
- Professional appearance and manners
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
