Duties
- Provide direct support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
- Support individuals to forge meaningful relationships with others in their community.
- Support individuals to recognize and to realize the life and activities that they value and desire.
- Communicate effectively with individuals, their families, and team members to ensure a clear understanding of individual goals and needs.
- Provide support in Activities of Daily Living including personal care, bathing, toileting, feeding, medication administration, light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, etc. as necessary to meet individual needs.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
- A compassionate attitude and a commitment to promoting independence and dignity for all individuals supported is essential.
- Experience helping others to connect with community resources and to make connections with others in their community is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective interaction with individuals being supported and team members, as well as for ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Experience providing support to individuals with their Activities of Daily Living including personal care, bathing, toileting, feeding, medication administration, light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, etc. is an asset.
- Secondary School diploma or equivalent is required.
