Reporting to the Senior Manager, Methods, and as part of a major railcar refurbishment program, the Methods Engineer will work within the Methods team in close collaboration with the Production and Engineering teams. This role aims to develop efficient work methods that ensure high-quality execution of tasks.

We are looking to establish best work practices and standardize them across different production lines. The incumbent will be involved in and support operations as well as the management team through upcoming changes. The work takes place in a unionized environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and continuously improve work instructions;
  • Improve work methods to enhance quality and reduce execution time;
  • Participate in resolving manufacturing issues in collaboration with design engineers and the production line;
  • Complete technical and management files in collaboration with various stakeholders (production, engineering, quality, logistics, etc.);
  • Research and propose technical and economic solutions to improve workshop performance;
  • Ensure work methods are safe and comply with health and safety standards;
  • Contribute to employee engagement in the workshop;
  • Participate in or lead special projects.

Requirements

  • DEC or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field;
  • 5–10 years of experience in methods, ideally in Structural Engineering;
  • Bilingual (spoken and written);
  • Experience in an industrial workshop, ideally in heavy equipment manufacturing;
  • Experience in a unionized environment;
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel;
  • Willingness to travel occasionally;
  • Knowledge in supporting and implementing systems, particularly HVAC (an asset);
  • Available to work all shifts occasionally;
  • Availability to work all shifts occasionally;
  • Strong team player, able to understand internal partners’ perspectives and add value;
  • Innovative and comfortable managing change, implementing practical solutions to complex problems in a timely manner;
  • Good communicator, dynamic and committed.
