Overlanders Manufacturing is seeking a skilled and experienced Press Brake Coordinator to join our team. This role requires a dependable professional with strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude, and a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience operating press brake machinery. This is a key role in ensuring production efficiency, mentoring team members, and maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Oversight: Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and monitoring compliance within the Press Brake Department.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high-quality standards by conducting first-off inspections and interval checks, and ensuring all parts meet specifications.
  • Workflow Coordination: Expedite jobs between workstations to maintain efficient production flow and minimize downtime.
  • Team Leadership & Productivity: Promote a collaborative team environment, ensuring all operators are productive and workloads are balanced across machines.
  • Problem Solving & Troubleshooting: Quickly identify and resolve issues related to quality, machinery, or workflow, escalating to the Brake Coordinator or Supervisor when necessary.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively liaise with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Training & Support: Assist in training new and existing operators as needed, fostering skill development and consistency.
  • Machine Setup & Operation Support: Support machine setup tasks, including tooling selection and adjustments, ensuring readiness for production.

Technical Duties

  • Press Brake Operation: Operate press brake machinery to bend and shape sheet metal according to precise specifications and blueprints.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings and work orders to determine required dimensions, angles, and tolerances.
  • Machine Programming: Input job specifications into CNC-controlled press brake systems when required, ensuring accurate execution.
  • Quality Control: Use measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, protractors, height gauges) to verify part accuracy throughout the bending process for all employees in the brake department.
  • Time Management: Organize workflow and prioritize tasks to meet production deadlines and optimize machine utilization.
  • Material Handling: Safely operate appropriate handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hoists, or carts based on material requirements.

Required Skills And Experience

  • Proven ability to lead and support a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years in operating hydraulic and mechanical press brake machines, including setup, calibration, and adjustment for various bending operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job specifications to determine dimensions, angles, and tolerances.
  • Proficient in using measuring tools such as calipers, protractors, and gauges to verify accuracy and ensure quality standards.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal preparation techniques including cleaning, deburring, trimming, and marking for precise bending.
  • Strong understanding of machine mechanics, including stroke length, pressure settings, and alignment for optimal performance.
  • Capable of identifying defects such as warping, cracks, or uneven bends and making necessary adjustments to maintain quality.
  • Familiar with workplace safety protocols, proper lifting techniques, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to optimize machine setup and cycle times to reduce waste and improve throughput in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Able to troubleshoot machine issues and make quick, effective decisions to maintain workflow and product quality.
  • Works well with others in a production team, communicating effectively to meet project deadlines and quality expectations.

Employment Details

  • Starting Wage: Dependent on experience.
  • Afternoon Shift: Monday to Friday, 4:15pm to 2:15am (40 hours per week).
