About The Role
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Communications and Engagement, the Social Media Coordinator:
- Provides advice on social media strategies and digital engagement best practices that enable the communication objectives of the Council and its partners.
- Creates engaging and original social media content.
- Collaborates within the team and across Council to develop and implement social media content strategies.
- Monitors and listens to community feedback on social media channels for potential issues and opportunities.
- Curates exceptional content to share on social media.
- Leverages social media to enhance Council’s visibility and engagement.
- Supports and advises various sections of Council (Art Bank, CCUNESCO, etc.) on their social media activities.
- Develops training plans, workshops, and informal sessions in collaboration with the Manager to increase digital communications literacy across Council.
- Supports colleagues in honing their social media knowledge and skills.
- Monitors and shares insights related to trends and developments.
- Reports on the results of targeted social media campaigns and initiatives.
- Analyzes Council’s use of social media and the impact of its engagement efforts to develop related recommendations.
- Updates Council’s social media and digital engagement policies and documentation (Social Media Guidelines, Netiquette).
- Monitors for traditional arts media coverage (earned) shared on social media.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Undergraduate degree in marketing, journalism or communications or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience related to the responsibilities of the position.
- Three (3) years of experience in social media and digital engagement.
- Excellent knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, Buffer, and related content creation, scheduling and listening tools.
- Excellent knowledge of communications / public relations protocols, procedures and practices.
- Familiarity with evolving trends, tools and services that can further develop Council’s presence on social media.
- Good understanding of the arts and culture landscape in Canada.
- Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to equity principles.
- Ability to use modern office technology, equipment and software.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced work environment as well as to adapt to multiple concurrent priorities.
- Skills in communication, organization, administration, priority-setting and interpersonal relations, combined with good judgement.
- Excellent writing skills in both English and French, particularly for social media and the Web.
- Creative visual storytelling, photography and video skills would be an asset.

- An advanced level in oral (C)
