The Accountant will keep Payworks’ finances running smoothly by handling key accounting processes, including accounts receivable and accounts payable, the monthly financial close cycle, and both internal and external reporting requirements. Throughout the year, you will also support the optimization of our internal processes and tools, and when year-end rolls around, you will play an important role in ensuring a smooth and successful financial statement audit. KEEP OUR FINANCES ON TRACK – IT’S WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Provide Financial Insights – You will help drive a smooth month-end and year-end close process by preparing reconciliations for accounts receivable, fixed assets, non-monetary revenues, and more. You will also compile internal financial reports, support CFIB membership validation, and ensure accuracy in recurring journal entries. Your work will help to drive smart decision-making and keep our financial records clear, accurate and audit-ready.
  • Ensure Smooth Collections and Reliable Reports – Using your superior organizational skills, you will prepare customer invoices and generate reports for key partnership agreements, keeping everyone informed and everything running seamlessly.
  • Champion Audit and Compliance – You will be a key player in audit season by working closely with auditors to provide necessary support and explanations. Throughout the year, you will contribute to internal audit activities and maintain compliance with financial policies. Your attention to detail will help us stay on track and meet regulatory requirements with confidence.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Post-secondary education in finance or accounting or equivalent education and experience.
  • 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience and in-depth knowledge of accounting policies, best practices and applicable legislation.
  • Experience in the payroll or tech industry is an asset. Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges is essential!
  • Experience using Oracle NetSuite is a plus, while strong technical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is necessary.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, both independently and in a team setting.
  • Exceptional mathematical skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills paired with clear and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Flexibility to juggle shifting priorities, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with accuracy.
