WHO are we looking for, you may ask?

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, we are in search of an experienced Painter who will be responsible for performing skilled painting work in surface and paint preparation and the application of paint, stains, vinyl and paper wall coverings, epoxy coatings and other protection and decorative coatings to buildings, fixtures and furniture.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Request and obtain material and equipment required for the work assigned.
  • In preparation for painting jobs, match and mix paint and stains and perform surface preparation, such as, scraping, power washing, sandblasting, minor caulking and plastering.
  • Utilize brush, roller and standard and airless spray-painting techniques, applying paint, stain, vinyl and paper wall coverings, epoxy coatings and other protective and decorative coatings and coverings to the interior and exterior of building structures and fixtures, such as, railings, doors, windows, lamp posts, fire hydrants, machinery, signs, curbs, flashings, vehicles, fire escapes and furniture.
  • Determine the sequence of work, the work methods and equipment to be employed and how best to complete the work based on technical knowledge of the trade and related departmental guidelines and policies.
  • Complete all work assigned in a safe and professional manner.
  • Communicate with maintenance and hotel teams as required to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Carry out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
  • Follow all safety and security policies and procedures, report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions.

WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, ARE YOU …

  • An experienced professional with a minimum of two years of experience, with a trade's certification or journeyperson level.
  • Someone with an outstanding work ethic, along with a track record of reliability, punctuality and an approachable demeanor, and a strong commitment to Safety.
  • An exceptional problem-solver, knowing how to troubleshoot and resolve situations efficiently.
  • An excellent communicator who values teamwork and collaboration.
  • Someone with good working knowledge of relevant industry techniques and safety regulations.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Someone who understands and adheres to Health & Safety regulations, laws and protocols at all times.
  • Able to provide quality service in a courteous, patient manner.
  • Someone with good knowledge of plumbing practices, painting, drywalling and basic carpentry.
  • Physically able to frequently stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, crouch, and lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds or more.
