Job Description

Senior Accountant:

This position is responsible for assisting the Finance Department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This includes month-end close activities, account reconciliations, financial reporting, assisting with financial analysis and other projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in critical and confidential aspects of accounting and finance
  • Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization
  • Prepare monthly journal entries
  • Month end close process
  • Perform various control reconciliations including bank, accounts receivable, accounts payable and inventory reconciliations
  • Perform various balance sheet reconciliations including inter-company
  • Fixed asset accounting
  • IFRS Lease accounting
  • Cross train and serve as back up for other accounting duties/leadership
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process under the guidance of the Accounting Manager
  • Preparation of year end schedules to support corporate reporting and audit requirements
  • Assist with compiling information for both internal and external audits throughout the year
  • Preparation of various ad hoc financial reports and other projects as required
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned

QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
  • 5 years of accounting experience
  • IFRS experience is preferred

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as D365 and AS400 is preferred
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Very strong working knowledge of Excel such as V Lookup, tables etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and work well under pressure
  • Excellent time management and organization skills required, very high attention to detail
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to take command and ownership of projects, driving them to timely, efficient, and accurate completion
  • Ability to multitask on projects requiring broad skill sets, while maintaining high standards of work in a fast-paced environment, with competing priorities
  • Thoroughness and ability to work collectively as part of a team
