Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd., part of the Carlson Construction Group, is seeking a Project Controls Manager to join our North Vancouver team and play a key role in delivering transformative infrastructure projects across British Columbia.

Why This Role Matters
As Project Controls Manager, you’ll lead the planning, scheduling, and performance monitoring of projects that are shaping the future of BC’s infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with project teams, executives, and stakeholders to drive consistency, transparency, and efficiency across all phases of construction.
What You’ll Do
- Provide governance and oversight for major initiatives like our upcoming marine terminal and energy infrastructure projects.
- Create and maintain detailed master schedules aligned with budget estimates and resource plans.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to keep timelines on track.
- Deliver clear, actionable reports to project managers and executives, including forecasts, trends, and performance metrics.
- Promote best practices and drive innovation in project controls across all active and upcoming projects.
- Train and mentor project staff on project controls duties.
- Review contractual documents, define project scope, and develop WBS.
- Establish scope baseline and identify key commodities.
- Develop schedule models via MSP or P6 and establish a schedule baseline.
- Cost and resource load schedules and develop resource histograms.
- Track progress, monitor milestones, and update schedules.
- Establish cost baseline by converting proposal estimates and mapping to project WBS.
- Formulate cost codes and upload project budgets into ERP systems.
- Prepare and update project cash flows throughout the lifecycle.
- Participate in change management processes, assess impacts, and update baselines.
- Develop Project Status Reports (PSRs), including EVM, Productivity Factor, and other KPIs.
- Proactively highlight and communicate trends, variances, delays, and overruns.
What You Bring
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in project controls within heavy civil, marine, or industrial construction.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Experience with Earned Value Management and cost control methodologies.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary range: $120,000 – $150,000
