Material Control Coordinator

The Cahill Group is seeking hands-on, organized, and proactive applicants for a Materials Control Coordinator in St. John’s, NL. As a key member of our Logistics and Assets team, you play a paramount role in keeping our operations running smoothly behind the scenes. You act as the primary point of contact for yard and site visitors and are also responsible for all aspects of shipping, receiving and warehousing activities.
As the Materials Control Coordinator, you manage project materials, handle client-supplied items, and make sure all incoming and outgoing goods are tracked and documented properly. You possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a strong ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, fast-paced team environment. This will be a full-time position, based out of our office on Southside Road, St. John’s.
What will you do?
- Oversee the site-specific Material Controls activities including all aspects of shipping, receiving and warehousing activities.
- Responsible for all ordering and issuing of project and shop consumables and supplies.
- Responsible for issuing and controlling of all new hire PPE, including union member contract negotiated items.
- Act as a key holder for opening and closing of building daily.
- Responsible for dealing with various clients on the control of client supplied material.
- Act as primary point of contact for all yard and site visitors.
- Responsible for inspection of all rigging equipment, as well as entering and tracking certifications in database.
- Aid in the continuous improvement and streamlining of all material movement and storage related activities.
- Responsible to ensure that protocols and systems are followed and documented appropriately.
- Ensure that incoming shipments are properly inspected and received as per company and project specific procedures.
- Coordinate and oversee the disposition of shipping errors with suppliers and the purchasing department on issues regarding delivery arrangements, repairs, damaged goods, etc. Compile relevant paperwork and update computer system in accordance with company protocol and project specific procedures.
- Co-ordinate with the quality department on proper shipping and receiving protocol and paperwork.
- Other duties as required.
What will you bring?
- Five plus years of experience with management of Material Control Systems.
- Highly organized and proficient with paperwork.
- Enhanced Computer skills especially with MS Office applications and experience with Project Management Software Packages.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner
- High attention to detail.
