Our CKC Department is looking for a dedicated Junior Lifeguard to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
The standard workweek consists of an average of 20-40 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.
Compensation
Starting salary $24.06 per hour as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.

Our CKC Department is looking for a dedicated Junior Lifeguard to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
- The Junior Lifeguard is responsible to lifeguard the aquatics area. The Junior Lifeguard must do so ensuring the safety and well-being of patrons at all times through education and training.
- Must be able to perform rescues and first aid as required while ensuring an effective, efficient, and safe operation of the Aquatic area.
- Responsible to effectively communicate with the patrons to promote water safe activities.
- Must utilize safe work procedures which ensure the safety of the staff and patrons in the aquatic area.
- Setup and Takedown for events.
- Provide Exceptional Customer Service
- Possession of Current: Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Award (NL), and Government of Alberta workplace approved Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C
- The ability to focus with full attention for long periods of time and be fit to respond to emergencies at any moment
- Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques for water safety, lifesaving activities and first aid
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent communication, customer service, organization, time management and prioritization skills required
- Basic computer knowledge
- Skills and knowledge to complete fitness skills assessment as outlined in the National Lifesaving award guide
- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check satisfactory to the City of Grande Prairie
- Ability to work shift work, including evening and weekend availability is required
- All certifications must be kept current according to the certification organization standards
