The Role

Reporting to the Fleet Equipment Manager, the Fleet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and overall management of a company's vehicle fleet. This role involves supervising a team of mechanics and drivers, managing vehicle maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and optimizing fleet operations for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Key Accountabilities/ Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Management:

Leading and mentoring a team of drivers and mechanics, including scheduling, performance management, and training.

  • Vehicle Maintenance:

Overseeing preventative maintenance programs, scheduling repairs, and managing vehicle inspections to minimize downtime.

  • Compliance and Safety:

Ensuring the fleet adheres to all relevant safety regulations, including those related to vehicle maintenance, driver conduct, and transportation of goods.

  • Fleet Optimization:

Analyzing data to identify areas for improvement in fuel efficiency, route optimization, and overall operational costs.

  • Budget Management:

Contributing to the development and management of the fleet budget, monitoring expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

  • Procurement and Disposal:

Managing the acquisition and disposal of vehicles and equipment, including cost analysis and vendor coordination.

  • Record Keeping:

Maintaining accurate records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, inspections, and operating costs.

What You Bring

To be successful in the role:

  • Technical Proficiency:

Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair, fleet management software, and relevant safety regulations.

  • Leadership and Management:

Ability to effectively lead, motivate, and manage a team.

  • Organizational and Analytical Skills:

Strong organizational skills for managing schedules, records, and budgets, along with analytical skills to identify areas for improvement.

  • Communication Skills:

Effective communication skills for interacting with team members, vendors, and other departments.
