About The Position

  • We are searching for a temporary (up to 12 months) Director, Software Engineering to join our IaTS team.
  • The starting salary will be determined based on a combination of skills, education, and experience. The salary range is $138,800 – $190,900 per year.

We are now recruiting for a Director, Software Engineering to join our IT team. This role is currently works from home 2 or 3 days a week and 2 or 3 days a week at our head office in Burnaby, BC. Apply this week if you would like to take on this role.

Key Ways This Position Makes An Impact

The Director, Software Engineering will establish priorities for system support activities (enhancements and fixes) and ensure that resources are assigned.

This role works with the CIO to develop, implement, and oversee the departmental strategic and tactical plan to be in line with corporate objectives and establishes individual objectives.

In this role, you would provide leadership and coaching to the Software Engineering team.

You would oversee production support release activities based on user needs, business priorities, team capacity, and technology capacities.

This role would develop the annual department budget and monitor financial results on strategic and tactical plans.

The Director would provide leadership support throughout the project management cycle by identifying opportunities, establishing objectives, evaluating the quality and ROI, and implementing changes.

Key Experiences You Bring To This Role

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a major in Computer Sciences, IT, MIS, or an equivalent field including or supplemented by courses in leadership/supervision.
  • 10 - 12 years of related experience in computer application support and systems analysis, including:
    • 7+ years of experience in progressively senior leadership positions; managing and/or directing IT development resources with competing demands to deliver against business objectives
    • 3+ years of experience managing cross functional resource teams.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a department or team a unionized environment.
  • Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment.
