The shift pattern for this permanent part time post is 10hr/12hr .

As part of an enhanced network of care for major trauma patients in Scotland, the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital has been identified as one of four major trauma centres across Scotland. Due to this ever expanding service we are looking for experienced perioperative staff with expert Perioperative skills to support this development within the Adult Theatres at the QEUH.

We can develop your Perioperative skills and knowledge across a fascinating and diverse range of cases and specialities. Our enthusiastic education team will guide and support your learning and education development in the Perioperative Roles.

You will be a First Level Registered Nurse trained in general nursing or adult nursing or a Registered Operating Department Practitioner. Experience in Scrub/theatre practice and/or Anaesthetics and/or Recovery is desirable.

As part of the multidisciplinary team you will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development of a programme of care and the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients within the perioperative department. The ability to work on your own initiative but also as part of an integrated team is required. You are required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service that runs over a seven day week and includes out of hours working.

The South Sector Theatres undertake a Perioperative dual training programme supported by the GGC Centre of Clinical Perioperative Excellence. You will be supported in post-registration education by the Perioperative Education Teams and will have access to training and education pertinent to the job.

Furthermore, you will be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde South Sector in order to achieve the needs of the service. As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC/HCPC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current NMC/HCPC registration, in line with projected start date for this post, may not be shortlisted for interview. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
