The MRO Buyer is Primarily responsible for purchasing of MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) stock and non stock items, services and other assigned categories.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Responsible for purchasing all MRO items to meet daily requirements. Determine production requirements based on past usage and releases purchase orders within lead-time to ensure the timely delivery of materials.
  • Negotiate with vendors to achieve the best possible price, quality, opportunity buys and lead times.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and inventory control to maintain adequate stock levels and prevent over-supply or shortage that could result in a line shutdown.
  • Maintain regular contact with maintenance manager and with his team, ensuring efficient procurement services aligned to their needs.
  • Follow up / expedite all open orders and coordinates pick-ups with dispatch daily so that production materials arrive on schedule.
  • Obtain quotes for non-stock supplies, equipment and services, relays the information back to requestor, and places orders in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with Receiving and Purchasing to resolve any outstanding receiving issues.
  • Coordinate the resolution of any invoice discrepancies with Account Payable.
  • Maintain item and vendor master data accurately within ERP software

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum of two to three years of relevant experience in the food industry.
  • Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc..)
  • Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety & quality
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast paced environment while organizing and prioritizing workload.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office, ERP and database skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of process improvement tools.
