We are currently seeking a Specialist, Quality Assurance who will report to the Director, Quality Assurance and contribute to reviewing customers’ contract requirements and participate in the development and implementation of required processes ensuring that the product quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Write Instructions (QCI, ITP, procedures) based on requirements contained in the customer’s order and specifications
  • Initial submittal to Customer and follow up of the project related documents (QCIs, ITP, procedures, etc.)
  • Participate as QA representative in Velan Project Management meetings
  • Participate in the development and the implementation of various Velan standard quality procedures and instructions
  • Evaluate non-conformities as an active member of the Material Review Board
  • Perform internal quality audits, participate in audits performed by external parties
  • Interact with customer representatives and regulatory authorities
  • Review and approve government and nuclear production orders
  • Review and approve purchase orders to suppliers

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, metallurgical or Industrial engineering, or a related field of engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of work in an engineering field
  • Minimum of 3 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control or Quality management in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment
  • ASME/ANSI standards and material specifications relevant to the pressure vessel or piping/fittings industry
  • ISO 9001 and NQA-1; qualified as auditor is an asset
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Superior English communication and writing
  • Ability to work under pressure and time management skills
  • Excellent problem solving abilities and detail oriented
