FCC Construcción Canadá has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line, together with the GO Rail Expansion-On Corridor Project and the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rail and Systems Project reinforces FCC Construcción’s presence in the Canadian market.
Position Summary
Reports to: Environmental Compliance Officer
The Environmental Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance of the works with the Environmental Management System and the Project Agreement.

Position Summary
Reports to: Environmental Compliance Officer
The Environmental Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance of the works with the Environmental Management System and the Project Agreement.
The Environmental Inspector Key Responsibilities Are
- Conduct daily monitoring and inspections on all aspects of the Works in accordance with the EMS.
- Maintain a log of monitoring and inspection events, which shall include photographic evidence to support the observations recorded during such monitoring and inspection events.
- Complete and provide monitoring and inspection reports to the Environmental Compliance Officer as part of the Monthly Environmental Report. Assist with client comments and queries on reports.
- Provide advice and recommendations for improving environmental protection and correcting any inefficient practices and/or issues of non-compliance within 24 hours of noticing a potential issue.
- Review weekly air quality, noise, and vibration reports and propose mitigations and advise/monitor construction teams accordingly.
- Attend construction meetings and provide advice and recommendations for improving environmental protection and correcting any inefficient practices and/or issues of non-compliance within 24 hours of noticing a potential issue.
- Prepare non-conformance reports, spill reports, and other environmental incident reports, and notify regulatory authorities as required and follow them on corrective actions taken.
- Interface with environmental subconsultants as required.
- Assist with collecting environmental samples and measurements, including soil, groundwater, stormwater discharge, dust, noise, and tree protection zones.
- Assist environmental team members with other reporting such as annual compliance reports and environmental trackers.
- Additional tasks as defined by the Environmental Compliance Officer, or Environmental Manager.
- Degree, diploma, or certificate in an environmental-related discipline (ecology/biology/environmental science) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC) or have proven proficiency in observing, inspecting, and reporting on the implementation of Erosion and Sediment Control Plans.
- Minimum of three years of demonstrated work experience in all aspects of environmental monitoring and mitigation during roadway construction or construction of transit infrastructure, specifically with respect to work in and around watercourses and in the application and correction of erosion and sedimentation control measures, reporting Spills and the containment of effluent and dust during construction.
- Experience with projects in Ontario of a similar scope and complexity.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation in Ontario.
- Experience working in construction/infrastructure industry or related field/s.
- Experience in developing, implementing, monitoring, and tracking environmental practices and performance.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to effectively plan and prioritize workloads.
- Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team setting.
- Proficiency in handling complex situations and knowing when to escalate issues to higher authorities for resolution.
- Capability to defuse tensions and manage conflicts calmly and professionally within project environments.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Possession of a full and valid Ontario driver's license.
