Job Description

Our client is seeking a Senior Risk Analyst specializing in risk management for large-scale pipeline projects, responsible for early identification, analysis, and mitigation of risks impacting cost, schedule, safety, compliance, and performance during planning and pre-construction phases.

Must Have skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in risk analysis or project controls for large capital projects
  • Experience with risk registers and qualitative/quantitative risk assessment techniques
  • Proficiency with tools such as @Risk, Primavera Risk Analysis, or similar software
  • Knowledge of Alberta regulatory and environmental approval processes for pipeline projects
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Nice to have skills

  • Prior experience in pipeline or oil & gas infrastructure projects in Western Canada
  • Professional certifications such as PMI-RMP or PMP
  • Experience facilitating multidisciplinary meetings and risk workshops
  • Familiarity with Monte Carlo simulations for cost/schedule forecasting
  • Knowledge of ISO 31000 risk management standards
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision in a fast-moving project environment

Responsibilities

  • Identify, categorize, and analyze technical, financial, regulatory, environmental, and schedule risks
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive project risk register, assigning ownership and tracking mitigation actions
  • Conduct probability-impact evaluations, Monte Carlo simulations, and other quantitative analyses
  • Integrate risk data into project schedule and budget to establish contingencies
  • Coordinate periodic risk reviews and workshops with cross-functional teams
  • Prepare risk reports and presentations for project leadership, highlighting critical risks and trends
  • Monitor external factors (regulatory changes, permitting, market conditions, supply chain constraints) for potential risks
  • Support the development and execution of mitigation and contingency plans
  • Maintain detailed documentation of risk analyses, assumptions, and decisions
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and standards such as ISO 31000
