The Opportunity

This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location in the Point of Care, Diagnostics division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.

What You’ll Do

  • Train and sign off on all current IQC inspection processes.
  • Inspect incoming parts using current documents.
  • Generate Exception Reports following the CAPA process for non-conforming material.
  • Work from Alert Lists and priority lists to ensure material is processed in a timely manner.
  • Support gage R & R studies – including data analysis.
  • Investigate component returns from Assembly – CIRF’s.
  • Support the inspection of new material, including all the new product artwork proof by the project management group.
  • Support Component Engineering with specific assignments, as required.
  • Ensure all IQC laboratory equipment is maintained and operational.
  • Work with Calibration department to ensure that schedules are respected.
  • Support the implementation of 5s (Quality Organization tools), Lean initiatives and projects
  • Participate in documentation review and the DCP process Actively promote software quality
  • Understand and comply with EHS policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Safeguard the environment and facilitate a safe and healthy workplace culture.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in manufacturing in a regulated environment is an asset.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize own daily work to meet established schedule.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to clearly, concisely and accurately convey communications.
  • Ability to form and develop interpersonal, professional relationships; display socially and professionally appropriate behavior.
  • Ability to work independently and in groups.
  • Knowledge of quality control within a regulated, cGMP environment;
  • Knowledge of MS Office
