About The Role

Hi, I'm Dave, Head of Finance, at Loop and I am hiring an up and coming Finance Manager to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting processes. This role will own the bookkeeping and accounting across all our group entities, and oversee the reconciliation of product-specific ledgers, including accounts, credit cards, and loans to ensure Loop meets its customer and regulatory obligations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment and have a deep understanding of fintech operations.

This role is an onsite position at our downtown Toronto office.

Where You Come In

The Finance Manager will have exposure to a variety of finance, accounting, reporting and treasury functions as well as supporting Loop’s compliance and internal audit needs. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and treasury operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and assisting compliance with regulatory requirements.

You will play a key role in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures, and will have the opportunity to get involved in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic analysis. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting within a financial services environment, excellent analytical skills, and comfort operating in a fast-paced startup environment.

Accounting Management

What You'll Be Doing

  • Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day accounting function, including all general ledgers, accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Assist the Head of Finance in ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial accounting process for consolidated and standalone operating and regulated entities
  • Conduct complete, accurate and timely accounting, reporting and analysis
  • Assist in the management of Financial and KPI reporting requirements for investors and key stakeholders

Treasury

  • Oversee the daily management of Loop’s treasury activities, ensuring all transactions are actioned, recorded and reconciled on a timely basis
  • Lead the management and accuracy of product reconciliations, including customer cash accounts and lending accounts
  • Action daily treasury activities on a timely basis
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of all required daily, monthly and annual reports as required by Loop’s financial partners

Financial Reporting

  • Support the head of finance in the external audit process with the provision of necessary data and reporting, and assisting in with the resolution of audit findings
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit findings as well as compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Help maintain and improve internal cross-functional management reporting requirements
  • Support the internal risk and compliance functions to ensure Loop is meeting its regulatory responsibilities
  • Monitor performance against budgets, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights to other internal teams.

Provide Additional Cross-Functional Support

  • Help with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, financial models and scenario analysis for both the finance team and other teams at Loop
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to drive business performance.
  • Support the Operations and Sales teams with customer related queries related to transactions
  • Assist with operational tasks such as credit evaluation, compliance evaluations and account investigations as needed

What We're Looking For

  • CPA designation or equivalent
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in financial services
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL for writing data queries
  • Strong financial acumen, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Impeccable accuracy with numbers and high attention to detail
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • You are a strong communicator and can effectively convey financial concepts and information to others
  • You are a self-starter and can work without supervision
  • You are comfortable working through ambiguous situations and managing multiple priorities

It’s a bonus if you have

  • Experience working in FinTech
  • Knowledge of fintech operations, including product-ledger reconciliations.

What We Offer

  • Salary range CAD$90,000-$110,000 annual, commensurate with experience
  • Equity ranging 0.01%-0.1%
  • 3 weeks vacation

Interview Process

  • 30 minutes video call to discuss the opportunity and the organization with Dave, Head of Finance
  • 60 minutes in person meeting with two team members, including a 45 minute in person assignment
  • Take home questionnaire
  • 30 minute in person meeting with Cato, CEO and Co-Founder
