Hiring: Forest School Educator

School: Out to Play

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Out to Play offers an Independent School, Field Trips, Summer Daycamps, and Therapeutic Services.

We’re hiring three Forest School Educators for the upcoming school year!

Starting Aug or Sept, the role extends to the end of the school year in June. Roles vary between 2-4 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead groups through inquiry-driven learning, art, hikes and storytelling outdoors
• Hold space for child-led, affirming, imaginative and immersive outdoor play
• Support, model and coach children through social interactions, communication and friendships
• Provide 1:1 support as needed, taking into account children’s needs and therapeutic goals
• Curate and inspire opportunitites to learn about the natural world and feel connected with the land
• Ensure that every child feels safe, supported, and connected with their group and educators
• Communicate with parents and staff with a professional, compassionate and positive attitude.
• Support children’s self-regulation challenges with playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy
  
  

Requirements

• Enrolled in or completed an ECE, BA, BEd or CYW or equivalent
• Experience in outdoor education, summer camp or Forest and Nature School
• Standard First Aid & Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Bilingual FR/EN (preferred)
