Accounting and Compliance Officer

Newfoundland and Labrador Credit Union (NLCU) is currently looking for an energetic, motivated person to fill the position of:

Accounting & Compliance Officer
Full Time – St. John’s, NL
You are an experienced accounting professional driven by your desire for workplace solutions. You have strong analytical abilities and time management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and are proficient in a computerized accounting environment.
Reporting to the Director, Accounting and Finance, the Accounting & Compliance Officer efficiently and accurately balances all of NLCU’s bank accounts, accounts receivable and accounts payable on a monthly basis as well as HST on a quarterly basis. This position is responsible for managing the index-link portfolio. They are also responsible for compliance of registered products including monthly/year-end reporting and balancing. They administer estates in a timely manner and ensure that we are compliant with legislation. They professionally demonstrate NLCU’s core values, provide daily support to branches, while complying with policies and procedures and applicable legislation. They establish and maintain strong employee and member relationships, works as a member of the Accounting team, and sets a personal example of service and professionalism.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one to three years’ experience in accounting as well as a three-year accounting diploma/certificate. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. Proficient PC skills, knowledge of Microsoft Products and adaptability to learning new software is required.
