Please note: This is a temporary position ending 03/31/2030 with the possibility of extension.
This position has two main focuses. The first is transferring the knowledge gained through applied research to stakeholders including industry, business, practitioners, regulators and all Albertans. The second is engaging with stakeholders, including northern and Indigenous communities, in skill development and capacity building to support tailings management, water treatment and resource exploration/extraction services in Alberta.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organizing and coordinating workshops, seminars, and tours for industry, business, practitioners, and regulators.
- Engagement with northern and Indigenous communities to support training and business development in the natural resource sciences.
- Writing applied research-related technical notes and develop technical videos of value to practitioners.
- Promoting research extension through website and other multi-media and distance delivery technologies
- Contributes to proposals to secure long term funding in support of research extension and forest education.
- Supervising of one or two additional REE staff and seasonal staff
- Develops a business plan and annual work plans based on CEES and partner priorities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in engineering or science required
- Experience in community out reach and/or education required
- Experience with conveying scientific theories, practices and findings to layman required.
- Knowledge and experience working with northern and aboriginal communities preferred
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $61,997.52 - $83,085.08 annually plus comprehensive benefits. (Classification – Research Officer II)
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
