We are looking for a Privacy Manager to join our legal team in Canada. You’ll be working with the head of data privacy to review, and ensure Arup is up to date with data privacy laws for Canada and the United States. This is an exciting role to help with risk reviews on global changes and being a subject matter authority for data privacy. This role can be based in our Toronto or Montreal office locations.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Research and respond to data privacy and protection questions- Develops and maintains key privacy documents, including policies, procedures, notices, and guidance notes, across all jurisdictions in the region
- Monitor changes and developments in relevant privacy laws and updates protocols and procedures in line with these changes
- Monitor compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations
- Advise on data protection impact assessments (DPIAs)
- Collaborate with and advise other key internal teams to integrate privacy measures into new processes, systems, and projects as applicable
- Lead and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs)
- Lead the response to privacy requests, queries, complaints and reporting relating to projects, employees, external parties, contract clauses
- Coordinate with other internal teams to handle data incidents
- Work with the Data Privacy Managers in other regions to ensure a consistent approach, where possible, to managing personal data
- Devise, conduct and lead data privacy training
- Establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Americas region to become the ‘go-to’ person for queries in the region
Is this role right for you?
- 5+ years of experience in data protection or privacy compliance
- Knowledge of U.S. and Canadian laws and global privacy principles, including California Consumer Privacy Act, Quebec’s Law 25, Law 1581 of 2012 in Colombia
- Recognized privacy certification/qualification
- Bachelor’s degree
- General understanding of cyber security
- Proven experience in risk management and mitigation strategies
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop professional presentations, reports, and summaries
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to implement and manage compliance programs and work collaboratively with other internal teams
- Bilingual in French is preferred

Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $100,000 to $120,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Calgary will differ.

Ce poste stimulant consiste notamment à évaluer les risques associés aux changements mondiaux et à agir à titre d'expert en matière de protection des renseignements. Le candidat retenu sera basé à nos bureaux de Toronto ou de Montréal.
Responsabilités
- Répondre aux requêtes visant la protection et la confidentialité des renseignements personnels, et effectuer les recherches pertinentes à cet égard;
- Élaborer et tenir à jour les documents clés relatifs à la protection et à la confidentialité des renseignements personnels, notamment les politiques, les procédures, les avis et les notes d'orientation, dans l’ensemble des juridictions de la région;
- Suivre les changements et l’évolution des lois pertinentes en matière de protection et de confidentialité des renseignements personnels et mettre à jour les protocoles et procédures conformément à ces changements;
- Superviser la conformité d’Arup avec les différentes lois et réglementations en matière de protection des renseignements personnels;
- Formuler des conseils sur les études d'impact relatives à la protection des renseignements personnels;
- Conseiller les autres équipes internes sur l’intégration de mesures de protection dans les nouveaux processus, systèmes et projets, le cas échéant;
- Gérer les demandes d’accès aux renseignements personnels et y donner suite;
- Gérer les réponses aux demandes, questions, plaintes et signalements relatifs à la protection des renseignements personnels concernant les projets, les employés, les parties externes et les clauses contractuelles;
- Coordonner avec les autres équipes internes tous cas et incidents liés aux renseignements personnels;
- Collaborer avec les responsables en la matière des autres régions dans la mise en œuvre d’une approche uniformisée en matière de gestion des renseignements personnels;
- Concevoir, organiser et animer des formations sur la protection et la confidentialité des renseignements personnels;
- Établir des relations solides avec les principales parties prenantes de la région des Amériques afin de devenir la personne de référence dans la région.
- Au moins cinq (5) ans d’expérience en protection, confidentialité et conformité des renseignements personnels;
- Connaissance des lois canadiennes, américaines et mondiales en matière de protection et de confidentialité des renseignements personnels, notamment la Loi 25 au Québec, la California Consumer Privacy Act (É.-U.) et la Loi 1581 de 2012 (Colombie);
- Certification reconnue en protection et confidentialité des renseignements personnels;
- Baccalauréat;
- Compréhension générale de la cybersécurité;
- Expérience avérée en gestion et atténuation des risques;
- Fortes aptitudes à la résolution de problèmes;
- Capacité à élaborer des présentations, des rapports et des sommaires professionnels;
- Compétences efficaces en communication;
- Capacité à mettre en œuvre et à gérer des programmes de conformité et à travailler en collaboration avec d'autres équipes internes;
- Maîtrise du français, un atout important.
