The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant who will bring technical expertise, client service excellence, and a collaborative spirit to our growing team. You will lead and manage assurance and tax engagements, mentor junior team members, and play an active role in delivering exceptional value to our clients – all while contributing to the award-winning culture that sets us apart.


Key Responsibilities

Engagement Management

  • Manage a portfolio of client engagements, including compilations, reviews, audits, and related corporate and personal tax filings.
  • Plan engagements, monitor budgets, track WIP, and ensure timely billing and collections.
  • Ensure projects meet deadlines, maintain high quality standards, and comply with ASPE, CAS, and Canadian review standards.
  • Identify and resolve significant accounting or audit issues promptly.


Client Service & Relationship Building

  • Build strong professional relationships with clients, acting as their trusted advisor.
  • Gain a deep understanding of clients’ business, financial, and tax affairs to deliver tailored advice.
  • Identify opportunities to add value, including recommending corporate reorganizations and optimizing tax provisions.
  • Maintain regular client contact throughout the year to coordinate engagement preparation and follow-up.


Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Review work prepared by junior and intermediate staff for accuracy and completeness, providing constructive feedback.
  • Mentor and train team members in technical skills, professional conduct, and client service.
  • Assign and manage workflow for team members to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Support the professional development and performance goals of staff.


Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with the Tax Department to integrate tax planning into engagements.
  • Contribute to process improvements and innovative approaches to client service.
  • Foster open communication and a supportive team environment.



What We’re Looking For

  • CPA designation and membership in good standing with CPA Ontario.
  • Minimum 4 years of public accounting experience in a staff accountant role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of ASPE, CAS, and Canadian review standards.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a client-first mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, paperless environment.
  • Experience with CaseWare, JazzIT, and Profile or TaxCycle is an asset; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
