WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an experienced Stability Development Chemist to join our Stability & Analytical Services team on a full-time permanent basis. This position will be based out of our Fraser Head Office, located in Liberty Village and will require candidates to work 5-days a week on-site/in-office.
The Stability Development Chemist is responsible for driving and owning the execution of the stability testing programs supporting new product development and post-launch lifecycle management—through protocol implementation, sample analysis, data interpretation, and reporting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality, compliance, and shelf-life through rigorous scientific methodology and collaboration across R&D, QA, and Packaging teams.
WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE
- Leads and executes all aspects of the stability program, including participating in the designing protocols, preparing and placing samples, analyzing results, and generating reports to establish and maintain product shelf-life in compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements across all stages of the product lifecycle.
- Develops fit-for-purpose stability protocols tailored to product-specific characteristics and formulation knowledge to ensure meaningful and reliable shelf-life data.
- Takes ownership of the stability program, ensuring end-to-end execution of stability studies in compliance with approved protocols, internal procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Contributes to the development, and validates stability-indicating methods with appropriate specificity, sensitivity, and robustness.
- Applies a wide range of analytical techniques—including wet chemistry, UV-Vis, titration, rheology, FTIR, UV spectrophotometry, and HPLC/UPLC-UV/PDA—to perform rigorous physical characterization and quantitative/qualitative analysis, supporting forward-thinking approaches to product stability and performance evaluation.
- Leads the resolution of Out of Trend (OOT) and Out-of-Specification (OOS) results by identifying issues early and driving root cause investigations and corrective actions to support product quality, regulatory compliance, and ongoing improvement.
- Executes packaging integrity and compatibility assessments, including evaluation of leachables/extractables, in collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and product stability.
- Oversees project planning, progress tracking, and risk management activities across the stability pipeline, applying strong project management skills to ensure timely delivery of high-quality data while supporting innovation, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Delivers precise analysis and robust interpretation of analytical data, ensuring meticulous documentation that adheres to cGMP standards and meets all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Owns the continuous innovation and quality improvement by contributing to the creation and revision of internal SOPs, Work Instructions, and best practices.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE
- Hands on experience with various analytical techniques including, but not limited to physical characterization techniques, wet chemistry techniques, FTIR, UV spectrophotometry, HPLC/UPLC-UV/PDA, sample preparation techniques.
- Familiar with USP, BP, EP, ICH Stability guidelines, ISO standards and regulatory requirements applicable to cosmetic and OTC products.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality data while supporting innovation, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication (written & verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Control Lab, Analytical Lab, or in an R&D setting in Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic or Cannabis industries
