Position Description

We are seeking a hands-on, strategic Director of Engineering to lead our Global multi-disciplinary development teams in delivering core system improvements aligned with our Platform strategy. As Director, you will be expected to foster an engineering culture that values transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You will champion the adoption of agile practices, supporting teams in iterative development and rapid delivery cycles. By prioritizing clear communication and cross-team knowledge sharing, you will help break down silos and ensure that everyone remains aligned with business objectives.

Your strategic influence will extend beyond immediate project needs, shaping the long-term technology vision in concert with executive leadership. You will be instrumental in defining technical roadmaps, balancing short-term deliverables with the pursuit of scalable, future-proof architecture.

In this pivotal role, you will also advocate for professional growth, establishing mentorship frameworks and encouraging engineers to expand their skills through ongoing learning opportunities and certifications.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

  • Significant personal drive supported by a passion for software quality and customer satisfaction. Ability to effectively prioritize and deliver tasks in a high-pressure customer focused environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, including people leadership.
  • Proven track record of delivering enterprise applications and solving complex technical problems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java/Spring, Ruby on Rails (RoR) or Golang, and relational databases.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps, monitoring, and deployment practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms — AWS preferred, Azure a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to drive alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in hiring, terminating, and development of both associate and managerial level staff.
  • Demonstrated conflict management and delegation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as analytical skills for sound problem solving and decision making, supported by facts.

  • Innovation and R&D: Drive innovation by exploring new technologies and methodologies to improve product offerings and development processes.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensure that all engineering activities comply with industry standards and regulations, particularly in terms of security and data privacy.
  • Customer Engagement: Engage with key customers to understand their needs and incorporate feedback into the product development cycle.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as marketing, sales, and customer support to ensure alignment and successful product launches.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the engineering processes and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and efficiency of the engineering team.
  • Talent Acquisition: Lead efforts in recruiting top engineering talent to build a high-performing team.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance applications, ensuring data integrity and operational uptime.
  • Implement and drive best practices for software design, implementation, unit testing, and integration testing.
  • Guide technical design discussions and code reviews across engineering groups.
  • Own delivery execution of complex enterprise features and applications on cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Continuously evaluate new technologies and frameworks to support evolving platform needs.
  • Collaborate with Product, Security, and global Engineering leadership to align roadmaps and delivery timelines.
  • Develop strategic and tactical plans for technology and people resourcing.
  • Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and career development plans for engineering talent.
  • Promote a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and learning.
  • Manage escalations, ensure stakeholder alignment, and communicate technical progress effectively.
