Responsibilities


The EDI Project Coordinator will coordinate the Western B.L.U.E. (Black Leadership University Experience) program, which aims to empower and support Black students throughout their university journeys, so they are confident and prepared to embark on successful and fulfilling careers. The role will work in collaboration to communicate with employers, students and University as well as community leaders, matching employer challenges to interested students. The EDI Project Coordinator will set up interviews, design professional development activities for students as well as various program events. This role will also design and enhance educational programs by conducting research, producing evidence-based guides, and developing the structure, content, and learning objectives of new online programs, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and learner needs. Additionally, the EDI Project Coordinator will create online teaching materials and instructional resources that support effective asynchronous & synchronous program delivery and foster engaging, inclusive, and outcomes-based learning experiences. The role will research and identify best practices in learning technologies, learner engagement, and facilitate the implementation of these online learning experiences. The role will collaborate with members of the Office of EDI and subject matter experts to ensure the course design is reflective and respectful of EDIDA pedagogies.

Qualifications


Education:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Project Management Professional certification is preferred
  • Curriculum design certificate/diploma would be an asset

Experience:

  • 2 years experience supporting complex projects
  • Experience with communications and operational service to underrepresented or equity-deserving groups
  • 2 years’ experience developing and implementing education/training, preferably in a post-secondary education setting
  • Experience developing curriculum and assessing adult-learning
  • Experience working in community-based research is preferred
  • Experience working with Western University, gaining an understanding of the organizational structure and the integrations between student, staff and faculty populations would be an asset
  • Training in facilitation, conflict resolution, or other skills for group process preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of various project management methods and tools include specialized software to support the curriculum planning and monitoring of projects and issues
  • Excellent planning and time management skills, with ability to multi-task, produce and coordinate projects within tight deadlines
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy with all sensitive issues and special situations
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently and with a strong sense of accountability
  • Leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide guidance and resolve issues independently
  • Self-driven, independent critical thinker who is highly motivated and skilled at anticipating and resolving stakeholder relation issues
  • Experience developing and implementing engagement strategies to inform program design and planning, including but not limited to engaging with community organizations, program staff, community, and/or individuals with lived or living experience
  • Experience designing and developing strategies, programs, and action plans and leading and supporting staff training, with a focus on equity, inclusion, accessibility, anti-oppression, and human rights
  • Ability to effectively present information and conduct training sessions and workshops
