Our Home Office is located in the heart of Bloor West Village in Toronto, just steps away from Jane Subway station. This position is a hybrid role where your time will be spent in office and working from home, based on operational requirements.

Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, and following company policies and procedures; the Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing internal communications programs designed to build an understanding of the company’s goals and priorities focused on creating an exceptional employee experience.

Key Qualifications And Demonstrated Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, or related field is required.
- 5+ years dedicated experience in internal communications.
- Experience with employer brand strategy development is considered an asset.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with superb ability to translate ideas into clear, compelling messaging.
- Experience in leading large virtual live events, preferably using MS Teams.
- Strong ability to build cross-functional relationships and influence without authority across all levels and functions in order to manage and drive communications narratives across the internal organization.
- Ability to work calmly, maintain good judgment, adapt quickly and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using multiple communications platforms, including digital, print, social and events.
- Proven track record of taking initiative to identify and solve internal communications challenges, and in leading executives and others to support and champion an effective internal communications program.
- Must possess excellent organizational, project management and writing skills and be accustomed to working under deadlines, completing deliverables on time and within budget.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills with the ability to partner will all levels of the organization.

- Develop and implement the internal communications strategic plan for the company; advise senior leaders, helping them more effectively communicate across their teams in line with their leadership style, and develop communications that build engagement and a positive caring culture within Arbor.
- Support and enhance Company Intranet on SharePoint including management of Content Authors, intranet guidelines, and troubleshooting with partners in IT.
- Plan, write, edit and post content on behalf Human Resources, ownership and senior leadership for a variety of internal communications vehicles including but not limited to: Intranet, email, newsletters (Arbor Tribune), internal social media, town halls, annual meetings.
- Prepares the monthly Chairperson, President and CEO monthly message to all employees.
- Lead the HR communication strategy and adjust as necessary to meet the needs of the business including learning and development, wellness, recognition and engagement.
- Ensure internal communications are clear and determine most effective communication platform to convey each message.
- Assist with Arbor’s recognition program and communication strategy to all employees.
- Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications CoE to enhance Arbor’s employer brand strategy around social media content (Instagram, LinkedIn etc.).
- Develops employee testimonial content strategy in partnership with the Manager, Talent, Culture and Employee Experience, Manager, EDI and Marketing and Communications.
- Working with the HR leadership, develop communication strategies to embrace change management methodologies.
- Coordinate updates on the Arbor Engage HR Page and conduct quarterly audits to ensure the information posted on the page is current.
- Develops and organizes content on Arbor Engage, HR including but not limited to the Wellness Hub, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Manager Centre, policies and the main HR page.
- Prepares weekly email communication to all employees and monthly updates by coordinating with Arbor CoE’s.
- Prepare and post announcements on Arbor Engage in coordination with Arbor’s CoE’s where required.
- Act as gatekeeper for Arbor Engage department team sites and content to ensure content is relevant and up to date.
- Develop and maintain an organization-wide events calendar on Arbor Engage to increase visibility of events including training that are occurring throughout the year.
- Assists with updates and creation of Human Resource policies and communication plan in partnership with the HR leadership team.
- Ensure Bill 96 French-language requirements are applied across internal communications.
- Develop and implement information from top-down and bottom-up that results in employees receiving and understanding important information and support an increased understanding of employee needs with senior leadership.
- Monitor and analyze employee feedback from key channels in order propose and apply best practices to extend reach, understanding and engagement.
- Project manage communication events (virtual and in person), video or photography shoots.
- Other duties may be assigned as required, in addition to the principal duties and responsibilities outlined above.
