Position: Engineering Manager
Cellview Imaging is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the development of novel retinal imaging solutions. This role involves translating early-stage concepts into manufacturable designs, guiding a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring compliance with rigorous quality standards. The Engineering Manager will report to Cellview’s Head of R&D and collaborate with EssilorLuxottica’s Director of Innovation and global engineering teams.

The Engineering Manager will report to Cellview’s Head of R&D and collaborate with EssilorLuxottica’s Director of Innovation and global engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
- Lead the transition of early-stage concepts into reliable, cost-effective, and manufacturable designs.
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on contributions to product development.
- Guide design decisions, align team efforts, and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Conduct design reviews and document rationale and implementation choices.
- Plan and execute development activities, manage resources, timelines, and risks.
- Oversee risk management (hazard analysis, FMEA, technology readiness).
- Maintain design control documentation and ensure compliance with ISO 13485.
- Implement reporting frameworks (KPIs, backlog, forecasting).
- Assess reliability and performance of design solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement and align development processes with EssilorLuxottica best practices.
- Collaborate with operations to transfer design outputs to manufacturing.
- Liaise with EssilorLuxottica MedTech on strategic alignment, resource management, and IP.
- Manage a multidisciplinary engineering team (optical, electronic, mechanical, firmware).
- Foster a culture of accountability, lean thinking, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear objectives, conduct performance reviews, and lead efficiency initiatives.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Physics or Engineering.
- 10+ years in complex instrumentation design, especially optical/optoelectronic systems.
- Proven experience in full-cycle product development.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA, GMP, and Health Canada standards.
- Leadership experience in regulated environments.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience in agile or hybrid development environments.
- Background in scaling development processes in start-ups.
- Familiarity with ophthalmic imaging and competitive landscape.
