What You Will Do
- Lead end-to-end software delivery — optimizing cost, leveraging Securian Financial Group’s scale, and accelerating speed-to-market with clear visibility into total cost of ownership.
- Shape the future-state architecture — define and drive solution architecture initiatives that enable core business capabilities and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Influence at the highest levels — partner with business, technology, and security leaders to align priorities and ensure technology strategy is business-led.
- Inspire and guide high-performing teams — provide technical leadership to multiple scrum teams and global delivery partners, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Align governance and execution — work closely with Securian US to integrate governance standards into Canadian operations, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, and future-ready.
- Own technical design and performance — ensure all solutions deliver on performance, scalability, extensibility, and resilience expectations.
- Advise and present to executives — build compelling business cases, present trade-offs and recommendations, and champion the right tools and practices for long-term success.
- Develop and grow talent — mentor your team to embrace curiosity, growth mindset, and innovation while delivering exceptional results.
- Proven technology leader with 15+ years in technology, including 5+ years in senior enterprise solution architecture leadership — ideally in insurance or financial services.
- Deep expertise in enterprise solutions with hands-on experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle, from design to implementation and operational delivery.
- Cloud-first approach, with AWS cloud-native applications and capabilities as a core focus.
- Have immersed yourself in generative AI, understanding current industry trends, experimenting with tools, and grasping AI architecture.
- Exceptional communicator and influencer with a track record of engaging executives, aligning stakeholders, and driving technology roadmaps forward.
- Sharp analytical thinker who can connect technical requirements to real business needs and measurable outcomes.
- Experienced people and vendor leader skilled at building strong, collaborative teams and managing strategic partnerships.
- Business-first mindset with strong financial acumen and the ability to balance innovation with operational discipline.
- Strategic technologist who stays ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
