Position Overview
The First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB) is a national First Nation institution created by the First Nations Fiscal Management Act (FMA). The FMB supports First Nations in their pursuit of social and economic well-being through the development of strong governance and financial managements systems.
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Reporting, the Financial Analyst, Corporate Servies, is a temporary role that will provide analytical and operational support to the Finance team across several priority areas including

Accountabilities
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of internal financial reports and variance analyses.
- Supporting the monitoring of departmental and program budgets.
- Assist in developing or updating financial models and forecasts.
- Support cash flow projection and deferred revenue reconciliations.
- Extract and analyze relevant data from the Sage 300 accounting system.
- Prepare and maintain working papers, ensuring accuracy, completeness and secure documentation practices.
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis, reconciliations and reporting tasks as required.
- Recent completion of, or current enrollment in, one of the following:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance
- Post-graduate accounting diploma
- Master’s degree with a quantitative focus (e.g. accounting or finance).
- Basic understanding of transactional and accounting accrual principles.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling).
- Must have an understanding, awareness and appreciation of Indigenous culture and history.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience or willingness to learn fund accounting and non-profit financial reporting.
- Experience working in an Indigenous environment or non-profit environment is an asset.
- Familiarity with Sage 300 is an asset.
