Fortis Mining, Engineering, & Manufacturing is growing, and we're on the lookout for a passionate, detail-driven Instrumentation & Control Technician, whose primary responsibilities are installing, maintaining, and repairing the measuring and control devices used across various projects. This position will work with a wide variety of pneumatic, electronic and microcomputer devices used to measure and control pressure, flow, temperature, level, motion, force, and chemical composition. What You’ll Be Doing
- Consult manufacturer’s manuals to determine test and maintenance procedures
- Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and control systems
- Use pneumatic, electrical, and electronic testing devices to inspect and test instrument and system operation
- Diagnose, repair, and adjust system components to remove and replace defective parts
- Perform routine inspections and scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to support system troubleshooting and upgrades
- Collaborate with Electricians and Engineers to integrate instrumentation with existing electrical infrastructure
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibration, and repairs
- Provide coaching and skill development for apprentices
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements
What You Bring to the Table
- Instrumentation & Control Technician Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyperson Certification is required
- Dual ticketed Electrician and Instrumentation & Control Technician Journeyperson would be an asset
- If not yet dual-ticketed, candidates with demonstrated commitment and drive to pursue a dual certification as an Electrician would be preferred
- Must be willing to train and mentor apprentice Instrumentation & Control Technicians and able to sign off on trade hours in Saskatchewan
- Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) certification would be an asset, but not required
- Individual Certification Programs (ICP) certification would be an asset, but not required
- 2+ years of experience in industrial instrumentation and control systems
- Strong understanding of process control, PLCs, and SCADA systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Familiarity with electrical systems and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment with possible exposure to hazardous materials, high temperatures, and noisy machinery
- Safety-conscious with a commitment to quality and precision
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Valid Driver’s License is required
- Available for out-of-town work based on varying project requirements
