Position Overview: The Cross Border Logistics Specialist will be responsible for managing and optimizing the movement of goods across international borders, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and minimizing transit times and costs. This role requires a deep understanding of cross-border shipping processes, documentation requirements, and trade regulations. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal teams, freight carriers, and customs brokers to streamline operations and ensure a seamless logistics experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cross-Border Operations Management:
    • Oversee and coordinate the end-to-end process of international shipments.
    • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of required shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
    • Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any delays or disruptions.
  • Customs Compliance:
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international trade regulations, tariffs, and customs requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant customs and trade laws across multiple regions.
    • Work closely with customs brokers to address any documentation or clearance issues.
  • Cost Optimization:
    • Identify opportunities to reduce shipping costs through carrier negotiations and process improvements.
    • Analyze shipping data to identify trends and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Vendor and Carrier Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with freight carriers, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providers.
    • Evaluate vendor performance and address any service quality issues.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Develop and implement best practices for cross-border logistics.
    • Identify bottlenecks in the logistics process and propose solutions for efficiency.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Track key performance metrics related to cross-border shipments.
    • Provide regular reports on shipment status, compliance performance, and cost savings.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in international logistics, cross-border shipping, or customs compliance.
  • Experience working as a licensed customs broker or with regulatory agencies such as the FDA, CBP, or CBSA.
  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations and documentation.
  • Experience working with freight carriers, customs brokers, and logistics partners.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software and tools.

Preferred Skills

  • Certification in customs compliance or freight forwarding.
  • Experience with supply chain analytics and reporting.
  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
