Manager, Compliance & Ethics:

Are you a passionate and driven compliance professional seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity? Loblaw Companies Limited is seeking a highly motivated Manager, Compliance & Ethics to lead and execute a variety of high-impact and high-visibility compliance programs and initiatives across Loblaw Companies Limited and its subsidiaries. As part of the compliance and ethics function, you will be joining a dynamic and collaborative team that is focused on ensuring that the organization continually adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.

We are looking for a self-driven and proactive Manager to join our Compliance & Ethics team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Compliance and Ethics. This role will involve supporting the development, execution, and maintenance of compliance initiatives across various business functions. The Manager will assist in identifying, assessing, monitoring and mitigating compliance risks while contributing to continued enhancement of our organizational compliance and ethics framework.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Risk Assessment

  • Assess regulatory risks, through facilitated workshops and other means, across the enterprise to ensure that existing controls address such risks.
  • Lead advisory assignments with focus on assessing risks, improving controls, or solving business challenges

Control Design and Monitoring

  • Review and map business processes and design controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Identify and assess options for automating compliance processes in order to improve efficiency, including opportunities for continuous control monitoring.
  • Identify opportunities to remove redundancies and inefficiencies through automation or other means.

Testing and Audit Support

  • Conducting testing of the design and operating effectiveness of key controls within regulatory compliance programs

Deficiency Tracking and Remediation

  • Identify and track deficiencies or opportunities for improvement in operation or design.
  • Develop and document Management Action Plans to remediate deficiencies.
  • Track the status of Management Action Plans to ensure completion.

Risk and Performance Monitoring

  • Ability to formulate and track Key Performance and Key Risk indicators to ensure that the Program is operating effectively and mitigating risk.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in management consulting, finance, managing business operations, and/or internal audit or external audit. Big 4 experience is not required, but is a plus
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge in risk and control fundamentals.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills are a must in order to proactively tap into existing and potential data sources and seek answers to important business challenges.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex compliance issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent analytical, data analysis and visualization skills are required with experience using data visualization tools like Power BI, MicroStrategy, Tableau or similar tools. Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel, Access and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail, great organizational and project management skills, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize assignments, solve problems, and meet deadlines.
  • Approach sensitive and confidential situations with a high degree of professionalism, upholding ethical standards, and demonstrating Loblaw Core values of Care, Ownership, Respect and Excellence in all that you do.
  • Strong sense of urgency, excellent time-management skills to effectively balance several tasks and projects in complex matrix business and operational environments.
  • Proactive and self-motivated mindset with strong attention to detail.
