RRC Polytech’s Centre for Learning and Program Excellence (CLPE) works to advance teaching and learning excellence in the delivery of applied education The Audio Visual Technician position offers an opportunity to be part of the Audio Visual (AV) Services team that supports teaching and learning excellence at RRC Polytech. The successful candidate will join a team that supports AV technology at RRC Polytech campuses across Manitoba including projectors, blended learning classrooms, lab spaces, recording studios, a large Immersive classroom, a state-of-the-art healthcare simulation centre, event spaces of various sizes, and conferencing enabled boardrooms and meeting spaces. The AV Services team is responsible for repairs, maintenance, programming, troubleshooting, and installation of AV equipment. AV Technicians ensure the proper operation of AV equipment to enable learning and collaboration, and to minimize interruption of learning activities and RRC Polytech operations REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certificate in media technology, electrical systems, IT/networking, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience and training working in the AV industry installing, maintaining and supporting audio-visual equipment including projectors, displays and in-ceiling audio systems (70 volt and 8 ohm)
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and servicing AV systems including Extron, Crestron, QSC, Mersive
  • Experience running, terminating, and testing communications cable in line with local building/electrical codes
  • Experience connecting, setting up, and troubleshooting networked AV equipment, including working with IP addresses and resolving basic DHCP or DNS issues
  • Experience supporting and maintaining AV over IP systems
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD and architectural blueprints, including electronic block, schematic and line diagrams
  • Ability to triage service calls and exercise sound judgement and critical thinking in troubleshooting, prioritizing or escalating issues
  • Ability to take initiative, work efficiently, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work on a team and individually with limited supervision.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with creating basic CAD elevations and floor plan drawings for AV installations
  • Experience with basic programming of AV control systems such as Extron Control Specialist and QSC Level 1 training and certification
  • Experience with IP-based camera, control, and AV systems and protocols
  • Holds a CTS certification (CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D)
  • Experience working in an academic environment
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may be required to travel
  • Incumbent must hold a valid class 5 driver`s license
  • May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
  • This position may be required to work overtime
  • Must be able to lift up to 65 pounds
  • Incumbent must hold a Manitoba Class M Voice, Data, Video cable installer limited electrician’s license or be willing to obtain one within the first 6 months of employment
