PRIDE Seeds is currently seeking a focused and self-motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a full-time permanent Operations Lead.

Position Summary

The PRIDE Seeds Operations Lead is part of a team responsible for general production activities throughout different seasons during the year. This will include but is not limited to receiving seed, conditioning/treating seed, warehousing/shipping, and equipment maintenance. Operating and overseeing critical machines and operations are central to this position while communicating production needs and improving processes. Assisting with process and safety.

Position will report to PRIDE Seeds Director, Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the VORNE schedule and update downtime codes as required to collect accurate data and provide metrics at DORM meetings.
  • Facilitate the Ready to Operate program, ensure it is completed before seasonal shifts in activities, assist with any preventative maintenance, administration and training activities that are required.
  • Assist Operations Supervisor with process and safety coordination, LOTO and hands-on equipment training required for new recruits.
  • Assist Operations Supervisor with the implementation of Dozuki and continuously update and create new guides for current or updated processes.
  • Responsible for the movement and tracking of bulk products at and between facilities, ensuring accurate and timely updates to inventory records in coordination with the Inventory and Quality Controller.
  • Responsible for the sampling of products in our bulk storage areas as necessary.
  • Monitor bagging personnel for completeness of work through inspections of completed work orders and product conformity with ETS/QMS requirements.
  • Ensure all tower and conditioning audits are complete, and the proper procedures are being followed for cleanup.
  • Backup the Operations Supervisor with internal auditing of facility, product and processes.
  • Assist Inventory and Quality Controller with ensuring accuracy of product put-aways and other inventory activities through inspections and cycle counts.
  • Assistant to Maintenance Coordinator, with scheduling repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensures not only that all health and safety policies are adhered but continually promotes safe practices throughout the workplace.

Education/Experience

  • Agriculture degree or diploma preferred.
  • Knowledge of field and conditioning level government seed standards.
  • Canadian Food Inspection Agency Grader GD/GB accreditation required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in the seed industry.

  • Operating knowledge processing and conditioning equipment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent leadership, people management, and relationship/team building skills.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation, initiative, assertiveness, and results orientation.
  • The ability to successfully work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work required hours.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work outside in varied climates and conditions.

Notation

  • Role is a salaried position: 40 hours per week, with occasional Saturdays and overtime, paid as an annual salary.
  • “Regular” schedule is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday with one 30-minute unpaid break daily.
  • Shift work as required.
