King Traditional Elementary School is a district program, meaning that anyone in the District can choose to go there, from all ‘catchment’ areas. Our school follows the British Columbia curriculum with an emphasis on a consistent, structured approach to instruction. Clearly defined standards of academic achievement and character are integral to our school's approach to teaching and learning.
King Traditional is a community that prides itself on the development of social responsibility. Candidate should be passionate about building connections with students and investing in the development of social responsibility skills of all students in their classroom or otherwise. They should also be effective at building professional relationships with students, parents, and their colleagues, and be willing to frequently communicate in an effort to better understand the narrative of the students in their care.
We are seeking an elementary PHE specialist 3 days/week and a teacher qualified to teach and support ELL students two days/week until Winter Break. This temporary position is subject to extension for the full school year (to June 26/26).

Education & Experience
- Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate from an accredited program
- Training and experience administering and interpreting IPT Assessments
- Teacher training at the elementary level with major/minor in Kinesiology
- Practicum work in Physical Health Education at the elementary level
- Familiarity with IELTS instruction
- Familiarity of the BC ELL Standards
- Experience teaching ELL learners at the elementary level
- Experience using technology to facilitate language acquisition
- Eligible for Abbotsford Academic English Language Program certificate
- Experience teaching Physical Health Education at the elementary level
- Eligible for B.C. Certification
- Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
All teachers are expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

- Organization & Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation and assessment
- Classroom Management: Create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student while managing student behavior and classroom dynamics.
- Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students’ interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning
- Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
- Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
- Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
