Job Summary & Responsibilities

This position is designed for a forward thinking, collaborative educator who thrives in an experiential learning environment and has a track record of innovative teaching and assessment practices. The teacher must have experience with creating inquiry/project based learning experiences that explore big ideas and concepts allowing students to succeed within an environment of complex knowledge construction as opposed to simple information assignments. The teacher must have experience in differentiating instruction for diverse learners. Students will be expected to demonstrate learning in authentic ways beyond the four walls of a classroom and teachers will facilitate this as an integral part of the assessment cycle.

Location: Yale Secondary

Education & Experience

  • Major/Minor in Biology
  • Experience teaching Life Sciences at the secondary level
  • LMS (Learning Management System) such as Brightspace or TEAMs is highly recommended to support the in-person learning.
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

  • Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
  • Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
