Grocery Clerk

: General Manager, Beauval General Store
Job Summary:
The Clerk is responsible for is responsible for selling a range of goods and services to customers, as well as, taking their requests and fulfilling orders to meet the customers’ needs. Ensuring that the grocery store is maintained in a clean, safe, and appealing state to customers. This typically includes organizing items on shelves, removing expired products from displays, assisting customers and bagging customer purchases. May also require preparing food orders, making sandwiches, and using the cash register

Beauval General Store, located at Beauval Forks, SK-155, Beauval; on English River First Nation #1920
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly, respectful, inviting manner and offer customer assistance or service
- Discuss type, quality and quantity of merchandise sought for purchase
- Retrieval of items or direct customers to relevant sections of the store
- Carry customer purchases to parking lot and pack orders in customer vehicles
- Obtain products for customers from shelves, stockroom, displays or counters
- Maintain a well-organized and orderly department that aligns with the company’s image and sanitation standards
- Monitor displays, keeping the areas detailed and well-stocked
- Advise customers on merchandise and assist customers by answering questions and issuing samples
- Prepare merchandise for purchase, including labeling items and informing the manager if items are sold out or need to be re-ordered.
- Maintain sales records for inventory control
- Operate computerized inventory record keeping and re-ordering systems.
- Bag, box, or parcel purchases for customers or for shipment and delivery to customers.
- Unpack products received by store and count, weigh, or sort items; stock shelves and display areas, keeping them neat and tidy.
- Rotate products and goods according to the company's standards and remove expired products from the displays.
- Use barcode scanning equipment to record incoming and outgoing stock, verify pricing and maintain computerized stock inventory.
- Price items using stamp or stickers according to the price list.
- Prepare sales and accept cash, cheque, credit card or automatic debit payment
- Calculate total payments received at end of work shift and reconcile total sales
- Monitor all entrances and exits, requesting proof of payment when necessary
- Assisting with general janitorial duties
- Operate electric palette jack
- Other duties as assigned
- Demonstrated sales ability, customer service, and product knowledge
- Ability to work as a team and contribute to a smooth flowing experience for customers
- Attention to detail is essential for maintaining and stocking displays to company standards
- Basic skills in math and counting change
