Human Resources Generalist

Global Traffic Group is seeking a versatile and people-focused HR Generalist to support the organization’s human resources needs. As the primary HR contact, this individual will be responsible for day-to-day HR operations while contributing to initiatives that enhance the employee experience, ensure compliance, and support organizational growth. Reporting to the COO, the ideal candidate will bring strong practical HR expertise with the ability to balance hands-on execution and supportive people practices across the business.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Compliance
- Serve as the first point of contact for HR related inquiries from employees, managers, and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal employment legislation, including employment standards, labour relations, human rights, confidentiality, and pay equity.
- Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, HRIS data, and reporting.
- Assist with monthly payroll processing and coordinate employee benefit programs.
- Conduct research and provide recommendations on HR best practices and trends.
Employee & Manager Support
- Provide guidance and support to management on various HR matters.
- Coach managers and supervisors on performance management, employee development, employee relations, discipline, and termination, ensuring compliance with legislation.
- Support employee relations initiatives and assist with conflict resolution when required.
- Conduct exit interviews and report on trends to inform organizational improvements.
Recruitment & Talent Development
- Confer with managers to identify staffing needs and workforce planning priorities.
- Complete full-cycle recruitment for a wide range of positions, including job postings, sourcing, interviewing, and offers.
- Manage onboarding and orientation processes to ensure a positive employee experience.
- Facilitate and support training, workshops, and professional development initiatives.
- Participate in the development and delivery of internal training programs and employee development pathways.
Engagement, Culture & Policy
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture aligned with company values.
- Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and processes.
- Actively participate in HR projects and initiatives to enhance the employee experience.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3 - 5 years of progressive HR experience, covering a broad range of HR functions.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR practices in Alberta and Ontario.
- CPHR designation or working towards one is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility across all levels.
- Proficiency with MS Office. Experience with BambooHR is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
