C++ Software Developer II, Database

Safe Software is looking for a C++ Software Developer II to join our Database team. As a Software Developer II, you will lead by example in the creation of sophisticated software solutions, contribute to architectural decisions, ensure the delivery of high-quality products, and support the professional growth of junior team members.

About The Team

As a part of the Database team, you’ll join a group of developers and a quality analyst who implement software in C++, as well as some Python and Java. The Database Team is responsible for extending and improving FME's access to database systems. Our goal is for FME to load and query this data with excellent fidelity, performance, and flexibility.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Software Developer II, you will:

  • Design, develop, and implement complex software applications and features.
  • Provide code review input to ensure high standards of code quality and promote best practices.
  • Mentor junior developers, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other departments to define project scopes and timelines.
  • Take ownership of key components or systems, ensuring their reliability, performance, and alignment with business goals.
  • Contribute to the improvement of internal development processes and software development lifecycle.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, advocating for the adoption of new tools and practices that can benefit the team and company.

Qualifications, Skills, And Competencies

Safers come from a variety of backgrounds with diverse skills and knowledge. That being said, those who are most successful in this role have experience with the following:

  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in C++ programming language and development environments. Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in software development, with a proven track record of successful project contributions and technical leadership.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor effectively and foster a collaborative team environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Safe Software-Specific Qualifications: Deep understanding of Safe Software's products, customer needs, and the competitive landscape.

Desired Skills / Bonus Points

  • SQL and other database technologies
  • Experience with Python and/or Java would be an asset.
