Project Description

As a Data Engineer in the Trading Technology, Public Market Investments team, you will partner with traders, investment professionals, and operations staff to design and implement solutions that enable trading and post-trade activities. You'll be responsible for hands-on development of analytical solutions across multiple asset classes including equities, fixed income, derivatives, OTC, and FX. Through close collaboration with business stakeholders, you'll witness firsthand how your software impacts trading operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain a scalable and efficient cloud-based data platform that meets trading analytics needs.
  • Implement processes and tools to monitor and improve data quality.
  • Model and efficiently store financial trading data for analytics use.
  • Create procedures to ensure software development best practices are followed.
  • Liaise with internal and external technical and business stakeholders to complete projects.
  • Develop solutions tailored to business requirements that align with long-term architecture and technology strategy using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Document and transfer knowledge of application support and deployment processes to team members, Operations, and Support personnel.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to streamline business processes and automate manual tasks where appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • University degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Good understanding of trading, capital markets, and trade lifecycle with eagerness to contribute to supporting systems.
  • Strong knowledge of software development best practices and patterns.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, AWS Cloud, and Kubernetes.
  • Strong working knowledge of databases.
  • SQL proficiency.
  • Expertise in Data Engineering: data pipelines, data quality principles, data profiling techniques, and data governance best practices.
  • Experience working with AWS cloud technologies (required).
  • Experience with BI tools like QuickSight (preferred).
  • Passion for expanding domain knowledge through on-the-job learning and continued education.
