We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to join our innovative, purpose-driven, and multi-disciplinary clinical team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reporting to the Managers of Clinical Services, the RN/RPN is a regulated member of The Newly Institute team, responsible for providing comprehensive client-centered care, trauma therapy, and addictions support for individuals struggling with complex mental health conditions. Embodying our core values of communication, community, excellence, health, and innovation, you will work collaboratively with members of the clinic’s multi-disciplinary team to achieve positive client outcomes.
Comprehensive Client-Centered care
- Effective assessment of client status.
- Prepare, and facilitate ketamine treatment.
- Monitor and support clients during psychopharmacological treatment.
- Support clients in crisis or dysregulation, such as managing panic attacks, or providing de-escalation.
- Facilitate psychoeducation groups (Based on ACT, Psychoeducation, DBT Skills, Mindfulness, Family Support, and Addictions Support).
- Assist in grounding and reflection post psychopharmacological treatment.
- Engage in interdisciplinary team rounds, providing up-to-date client progress and assessment.
- Ensure adequate stock of medications, medical supplies, and other general stocking duties.
- Maintain, and upkeep medical equipment, including the corresponding documentation.
Trauma Therapy and Addiction Support
- Complete client intakes and case management support.
- Support clients receiving substance abuse treatment with biological monitoring, relapse prevention planning, psychoeducation, motivational interviewing.
Team Collaboration
- Participate in weekly case consultations and complex case discussions with the interdisciplinary team.
- Work collaboratively with other therapists by sharing a client caseload.
- Communicate with other clinicians on a regular basis about issues related to client care.
- Attend all clinical meetings, including but not limited to WCB and other programs.
- Engagement in professional consults and supervision.
Administration
- Ensure same-day completion of session notes.
- Complete assessment, and discharge reports in a timely manner.
- Provide reporting to third-parties and community referral sources.
- Respond to enquires and provide program information to clients.
Other responsibilities related to the role and scope of work may be assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
Education
- A bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
- BLS and or willingness to obtain is required.
- ACLS training is an asset.
Experience
- A minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience in mental health assessment/triage and treatment is required.
- Experience in addictions assessment and treatment, mental health group facilitation, ART, and/or care plan development is an asset.
- Equivalencies of education may be considered.
Professional Registration, Practice Permits, Certificates, and Designations
- An active College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA) registration and membership in good standing are required.
- Professional liability insurance is required.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
- Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is required.
Background Check
