Mechanical Designer
4AG Robotics

About Us
4AG Robotics is a fast-growing startup revolutionizing mushroom harvesting with innovative robotics. Driven by creativity, collaboration, and excellence, we make quick, smart decisions to stay at the forefront of technology. As we strive to become the global leader in mushroom robotics, we embrace challenges as opportunities. We’re seeking someone who shares our passion for problem-solving and is excited to tackle challenges head-on with a “let’s figure it out” mindset.
The Opportunity
At 4AG Robotics, we’re transforming agriculture with robotics and automation that solve real-world challenges in food production. As a Mechanical Designer, you’ll play a key role in developing innovative systems that push the boundaries of what’s possible in robotics. You’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and technologists to design mechanical systems that are both practical and groundbreaking.
What You’ll Do
- Design mechanical components and assemblies for robotic systems, from concept through to production.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and documentation for manufacturing.
- Perform tolerance analyses, material selection, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Work with suppliers and fabricators to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and cost requirements.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, software, and controls engineers to ensure seamless integration of subsystems.
- Support prototyping, testing, and iterative design improvements.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute creative solutions to technical challenges.
What Success Looks Like
- Robust, manufacturable designs delivered on schedule.
- Reduced iteration cycles through thoughtful design and collaboration.
- Clear, accurate documentation enabling smooth transitions to manufacturing.
- Designs that improve robot reliability, performance, and usability in real-world farm environments.
What You Bring
- A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical design (robotics, automation, or machinery preferred).
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
- Strong understanding of GD&T, material properties, and manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, plastics, etc.).
- Experience with prototyping, testing, and hands-on problem solving.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
Why This Role Matters
Our robots are solving one of the most pressing challenges in agriculture: the labour shortage in food production. By designing reliable, efficient mechanical systems, you’ll directly contribute to building sustainable food systems and ensuring farms around the world can thrive.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses
- Access to extended health, dental and vision care, and an annual healthcare spending account
- Professional development opportunities
- Flexible work hours. We value your time. We support work-life integration that focuses on delivering results not completing a timesheet. We flex to get the job and life done.
- Collaborative, fun, and innovative work environment
What We believe
